Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Polymata platform at polymata.co (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Polymata ("we", "us", or "our").
You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
2. Service Description
Polymata is an AI-powered platform that generates personalized non-fiction ebooks in ePub format on topics provided by users. The Service includes book generation, ePub and PDF delivery, optional direct-to-Kindle delivery via email, and access to a user dashboard.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security and confidentiality of your account credentials. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to or use of your account.
You may not share your account, transfer it to another person, or use another user's account without authorization. We reserve the right to terminate accounts we believe are being shared or misused.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to keep this information up to date.
4. Credits, Payments & Refund Policy
Access to full book generation requires the purchase of credits. Credits are sold in packs and processed securely through Stripe. All prices are in euros and inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.
Current credit packs:
- Starter: 3 credits for €4.99 (~€1.66/book)
- Standard: 10 credits for €12.99 (~€1.30/book)
- Pro: 30 credits for €29.99 (~€1.00/book)
Automatic refund on technical failure: If book generation fails due to a technical error on our side, your credit is automatically returned to your account balance. You will not be charged for a generation that does not complete successfully.
Retry exception — manifestly off-topic content: If the generated book is manifestly off-topic — meaning the content clearly and predominantly addresses a different subject than what you requested, rather than simply being imperfect, shallow, or differently structured than expected — you may request one (1) free credit reinstatement per job under the following conditions:
- Contact us at [email protected] within 7 days of generation, including your job ID (visible in your dashboard)
- We will perform a human review of the generated content within 48 business hours
- If the review confirms the content is manifestly off-topic, one credit will be reinstated to your account (not a cash refund)
- This exception applies once per job and does not apply to dissatisfaction with writing style, tone, depth, level accuracy, or the inherent limitations of AI generation
We strongly recommend reviewing the table of contents before approving generation — the outline is displayed and editable before your credit is consumed. A book generated from an approved outline is considered accepted.
No other refunds: Purchased credits are otherwise non-refundable. We do not offer refunds for dissatisfaction with generated content, as AI output is inherently variable and probabilistic by nature.
Credits do not expire. Unused credits remain on your account indefinitely.
We reserve the right to adjust pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect credits already purchased.
5. AI-Generated Content — Important Disclaimer
All books generated by Polymata are produced entirely by artificial intelligence language models (LLMs). AI-generated content is automated and probabilistic by nature: the same prompt may produce different results each time, and output quality cannot be guaranteed.
Hallucinations are an expected characteristic of LLMs, not a defect. AI models sometimes generate plausible-sounding statements that are factually incorrect, invented, or internally inconsistent — a phenomenon known as "hallucination." This risk is inherent to the technology and increases with subject complexity, niche domains, highly technical fields, recent events, and domains requiring precise factual accuracy (medicine, law, finance, scientific research, statistics, historical dates, etc.).
By using the Service, you expressly acknowledge and agree that:
- Generated books are not a substitute for professional advice of any kind — medical, legal, financial, psychological, or otherwise. Nothing in a generated book constitutes professional advice.
- AI language models regularly produce plausible-sounding but factually incorrect statements, invented citations, approximate statistics, and oversimplifications. You cannot assume generated facts are accurate without independent verification.
- Generation is automated and non-deterministic: we do not manually review any generated book before delivery. There is no human editorial oversight of the content.
- Generated content reflects the training data and knowledge cutoff of the underlying AI models and may not reflect recent developments, legal changes, regulatory updates, or current best practices.
- You are solely responsible for verifying any information contained in a generated book before relying on it for any purpose.
- Polymata is not liable for any decision, action, loss, harm, or damage arising from your use of or reliance on AI-generated content.
Generated books are intended as educational starting points and structured overviews for personal learning. We strongly encourage users to consult primary sources, peer-reviewed literature, and qualified professionals for any critical application of the information contained in generated books.
What Polymata does to reduce these risks: We take the limitations of AI seriously and implement multiple technical measures to improve content quality and reliability:
- Low-temperature generation — we deliberately configure the AI models to operate at reduced creativity settings, favouring accuracy and coherence over stylistic variation
- Two-step table of contents critique — every outline is first generated, then independently reviewed and corrected by the AI itself for level accuracy and pedagogical coherence before being shown to you
- Epistemic honesty instructions — the AI is explicitly instructed to signal uncertainty inline ("according to available data", "estimates vary", "consult a professional") rather than presenting uncertain claims with false confidence
- Post-generation quality validation — each chapter is automatically checked for minimum length, structure, and completeness; chapters that fail are automatically retried before delivery
- Mandatory disclaimer in every ePub — every generated book contains a prominent "Important Notice" page reminding readers of the AI-generated nature of the content and its limitations
These measures meaningfully reduce — but do not eliminate — the risk of hallucinations or inaccurate content. The fundamental limitations of current AI technology remain, and the responsibilities described above continue to apply.
6. Intellectual Property
Our platform: The Polymata platform, its design, software, trademarks, and all non-generated content are owned by or licensed to us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the platform.
Generated books: Each book is generated uniquely from your prompt. You may use generated books for personal study, research, and reference. The legal status of AI-generated content under copyright law varies by jurisdiction and continues to evolve; we make no warranty as to the copyright status of generated content. For any commercial use or publication, you are solely responsible for consulting applicable intellectual property law in your jurisdiction.
Your prompts: You retain ownership of the prompts you submit. By submitting a prompt, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process it for the purpose of generating your book. We do not use individual user prompts to train AI models.
7. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Generate content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or that violates the rights of any third party
- Generate content intended to deceive, spread misinformation, or be presented as authoritative fact when you have reason to believe it is not
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, credit systems, paywalls, or access controls
- Use automated scripts or bots to generate books at scale without prior written consent
- Attempt to extract, reproduce, or reverse-engineer the underlying AI prompts or system architecture
- Resell or sublicense generated content or credits without our prior written authorization
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these prohibitions, without refund of remaining credits.
8. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described therein.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties

- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Personal injury or property damage arising from your use of the Service

- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your account or data
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR €10.00, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability; in such jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Upon voluntary closure, any unused credits are forfeited and are not refundable.
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of termination, except where prohibited or where immediate action is required.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 5, 6, 9, 10, and 13 survive termination of these Terms.
12. Changes to Terms
